Types of Wrought Iron
Wrought iron is very low on carbon content and is considered commercially pure. Wrought iron also contains slag. It is highly malleable and ductile. Wrought iron is quite tough but at the same time can be welded easily. Items made of wrought iron are highly durable.

Wrought iron is produced by puddling process at low temperatures. Under this process, impurities are not removed which results into high slag content. Slag is basically ferrous silicate and is a result of oxidizing reactions. Wrought iron is shock resistant and corrosion free. It was used to make various weapons and tools India, China and Mediterranean in third century. Later on in Europe, it was produced from cast iron indirectly.

Types of Wrought Iron
Two main types of wrought irons are listed below:-

Charcoal Iron
This type of iron has property to withstand corrosion for hundred of yrs. Charcoal iron sheet has a smooth surface making it ideal for the accurate replication of weaponry. Charcoal iron artifacts are economical and easy to use and, they can easily be molded for various purposes. For example, charcoal iron grills are famous and portable for cooking purpose. It is easy to set up larger capacity models in the back yard and easily you can enjoy the aroma of fish, steaks, hamburgers, and hotdogs with little effort and keep the heat out of the kitchen.

Puddled Iron
By the end of eighteenth century, there was evident need to have better quality iron than charcoal iron. The method used to refine charcoal iron was called "Puddling", which is a technique invented at the end of eighteenth century for making pure iron from pig iron. Puddled iron is of a very high strength as is evident from the survival of heritage raised from this iron.

Puddling superseded wrought iron working by hand and the introduction of the technique made a significant contribution to the industrial revolution.

These both type of wrought irons are used for various industrial and domestic usage.
